Effortless Eats: Quick and Delicious Sheet Pan Dinner Recipe
This recipe is brought to you today courtesy of my husband. The last time we made this, he said something to the effect of… “You need to share this on your blog. It’s just so easy and would be perfect to share with your clients.” And you know what? I think he’s right on this one. So here we go!
This recipe is one my whole family enjoys from my husband to my toddler. Plus it’s easy, makes very few dishes, and is totally customizable to your tastes!
Entering… Sheet Pan Dinner!
Okay, so you’ve probably heard of some version of this meal. It’s not exactly a new concept. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good one!
Essentially, the concept of a sheet pan dinner is to add a bunch of ingredients to a sheet pan and bake them in the oven altogether and…. voilà! Dinner is served.
Balanced Meal Formula
One thing I love about this meal is that it’s so easy to make it balanced. What exactly does that mean?
Well creating a balanced meal really deserves its own blog post someday. But for now, let’s pause for a quick second to discuss the balanced meal formula.
There are four components to aim for when creating a meal to help provide the different building blocks that our bodies need to thrive. Those four categories are…
Protein + Produce + Carbohydrate + Fat
Formula Applied
Protein - In this recipe, I use chicken sausage (the pre-cooked kind) because it’s really easy, fast to prepare, and tastes delicious! If serving young kiddos, try to find one with minimal sodium.
Produce - This includes both fruits and veggies. I usually add in frozen broccoli, but any non-starchy veggie will do.
Carbohydrate - Probably my favorite carbohydrate of all time… sweet potato. I love potatoes of all kinds, but sweet potatoes are definitely at the top for me. Plus, they’re filled with so many vitamins and minerals along with the carbohydrates we need.
Fat - There are a couple of options for fat here. Usually, the chicken sausage I have contains a fair amount of fat so I don’t worry about adding any more. Plus I add a very light spray of avocado oil. But if your protein doesn’t have much fat, try sprinkling a little more oil or add your favorite sauce once done cooking.
Modifications
This recipe is customizable and you are welcome to choose any ingredients you like! I would encourage you to follow the balanced meal formula and make sure you have at least one ingredient from each category. Otherwise, have fun with it and try different flavor combos.
